- Obtain Your Broward County Contractor License -

Are you a Broward County resident interested in becoming a licensed contractor and have the benefit of operating as a legal contractor or start a contracting business?

If so, the Broward County Permitting, Licensing and Consumer Protection Division is offering free contractor license seminars on the first Tuesday of every month, beginning at 9 a.m. at Broward County Government Center West, Building A-Hearing Room, 1 N. University Drive, Plantation. The next seminar will be held on Tuesday, March 2.

To be eligible, an individual must be at least 18 years old and have the minimum years of experience in a specific contracting category. Many of the contractor license categories, such as fencing, acoustical ceilings, screen enclosures, and interior and exterior painting, only require a minimum of one year of experience. Some license categories may require experience as a journeyman. For more information on experience requirements for other license categories, contact the Licensing and Enforcement Section.

These free seminars will facilitate becoming a licensed contractor by providing attendees with the information and support to obtain a contractor's license. The session will include:

• License application assistance

• Licensing classification aid

• One-on-one orientation
